THIS IS A CRITICALLY IMPORTANT MESSAGE REQUIRING IMMEDIATE ACTION BY ALL WHO OPPOSE ANOTHER GAMBLING FACILITY IN RHODE ISLAND!

RISC is mounting a petition campaign to inform the R.I. Congressional delegation that we oppose the repeal of the Chafee amendment. Repeal would permit the Narragansett Indian Tribe to build a gambling facility in Charlestown. For a myriad of reasons (infrastructure, environment, traffic, property values, tax increases for police and fire protection, tourism, competition with local restaurants and allied small business, etc.) such a development would be a disaster for all in Rhode Island, particularly those who live in close proximity to Charlestown.

RISC is contactingevery full and part-time resident to ask them to go to the RISC website (WWW.risc-RI.org) to sign the petition. The Narragansetts are meeting with the Congressional delegation sometime in February and we want to have the RISC petition submitted to them at or about the same time.
Your authorization of an approach to your members, asking them to sign the petition and to urge others in their families, friends and/or neighbors to do so will be appreciated. A person need not be a voter in R.I. to sign. All voters and property owners, renters, whether full or part-time, and regardless of whether they are members of RISC, are eligible to sign.

AGAIN, THE PETITION CAN BE SIGNED AT: www.risc-ri.org
